この曲を知っている人も多いのではないでしょうか？1997年に爆発的ヒットになったAqua(アクア）の「Barbie Girl」。ノリが非常に良く、リズミカルな曲に加え、バービー人形がもしも人間だったら、おそらくこんな生活なんだろうなぁ～と想像をかき立てられる曲です。また、このMTVはコミカルで私はとても好きです。
さて、このAquaですが、スカンディナヴィア（デンマーク）のポップスグループなんですね。とても英語の発音がよいので、イギリス系のバンドかと思いきや、実はデンマークだった。いや、本当に驚かされます。英語ができると言うことは本当に強みになりますね。だって、イギリスのシングルチャートでは今までにもわずかなアーティストしか達成出来なかったファーストシングル1位を達成したんですから。
残念ながら2001年7月に分裂してしまいましたが、アルバム､『Aquarium』(1997年)､『Aquarius』(2000年)をリリース。アルバムとシングルを合わせて約2800万枚のセールスを達成したのですから、まさに、流星のごとく現れて、音楽界にドカーンと衝撃を与えた、伝説のグループになりました。
